Costa Blanca Travel Guide

Situated in the province of Alicante, the Costa Blanca extends more than 200 km along the coast, from Dénia in the north to Torrevieja in the south. The Costa Blanca is synonymous with thriving tourist resorts, long sandy beaches, warm sunny weather and a lovely Mediterranean breeze throughout the year. Alicante is the capital of the Costa Blanca and the most popular holiday resort, while Benidorm is also a major tourist magnet. Other seaside resorts include Elche, Dénia, Calpe and Torrevieja, each boasting beautiful beaches, plenty of shopping, activities for all ages and nightlife to keep visitors entertained. The costal towns of Jávea and Altea still retain their traditional charm.

Costa Blanca’s blue-flag beaches are its major drawcard and offer plenty of activities, including sailing schools, surfing, water-skiing, windsurfing and boat trips. North of Altea, the landscape is mountainous and green, with a coastline of rocky coves and cliffs. The two major beaches in Benidorm are the popular Levante and Poniente beaches. Golden sands can be found within a landscape of salt lakes and palm trees around Alicante, including San Juan, Cabo de las Huertas, La Albufereta, Agua Amarga and El Salar. Heading further south, visitors can discover the sand dunes of Guardamar del Segura and Playa del Cura in Torrevieja.

Water parks, animal safaris and marine parks are just some of the family attractions in Costa Blanca, which include Mundo Mar, Aqualandia and Terra Mítica in Benidorm. Fascinating historical sites include the magnificent Palau Ducal dels Borja in Gandía, while golfers can tee off at any of the excellent courses in the area. Nature lovers will enjoy visiting the picturesque Guadalest Valley, the Elche Palm Grove, Peñon de Ifach Natural Park and the Pego-Oliva Marshlands Nature Park. The protected marine reserves of Cabo de San Antonio and Tabarca Island are perfect for scuba diving.

There’s plenty to see and do in the Costa Blanca – make the most of your holidays with a Discount Rent A Car rental car.
